Frequently asked questions
Common Questions
Does my business qualify for a BOP?
BOPs are typically designed for small to mid-sized businesses with lower-risk operations, such as offices, retail stores and many service businesses. Eligibility depends on the carrier and on factors such as your industry, revenue, building size and number of employees.
What does a BOP not cover?
A BOP usually does not include workers' compensation, commercial auto or professional liability, which are written as separate policies. Flood and earthquake damage are also typically excluded and need separate coverage.
Is a BOP better than buying separate policies?
For many eligible businesses, a BOP can be a convenient way to combine core coverages in one policy. Larger or higher-risk businesses may need separate policies with broader options or higher limits. Our agents can compare both approaches with you and explain the differences.
My landlord requires insurance. Can a BOP help?
Yes. Many leases require general liability and coverage for your business property, and a BOP typically includes both. Your landlord may also ask to be listed as an additional insured and to receive a certificate of insurance.
